You certainly CAN do it!

I have loved watching you blossom (we started Tweeting around the same time) - from a quiet unassuming background whisper to a real voice for the Industry. We are in a field that tends to be slow to accept change and has been one step at a time making social media part of most jeweler's marketing program.

You ARE a "trust agent" and a trail blazer and I certainly hope that your initiative is appreciated at Ben Bridge. BTW - I love family owned businesses I think that they benefit most from the personal tone of social media.

Thanks for your kind words and support, everyone!

Judy -- I'm open to meeting/chatting with your jeweler client if they're up for it. Always happy to exchange ideas and stories.

Michael -- I know there are lots of jewelry industry professionals doing great things in social media, and you're among them. Gen-Next Jewelers is such a great project! I hope to meet and learn from everyone in the near future. For now, I'm doing my best to get everyone on board in the company. It's challenging _and_ exciting!

Hey Veronica! I've been meaning to give this piece a read for days, but wanted to wait and make sure I had time to truly read your story. I really hope that other retailers see what you are doing and learn by example. I've been getting to know you slowly, but surely on Twitter and FB and you always strike the perfect tone of brand ambassador and genuine personality.

I've always been a big believer that Social Media is one of the best things to happen to Retail Jewelry Stores in a long time. Web 1.0 took a lot of power away, but these days 2.0 offers an amazing platform to both humanize the brand and broadcast expertise at a previously unimaginable scale for nothing more than knowledge and sweat equity. What you have been doing with @benbridgegirl, the FB Fan Page and now the Blog are showing off that power.

It is inspiring to see what you've built for Ben Bridge and it is encouraging that they are standing behind your initiatives. Look forward to reading more of your blog and keeping up with you on the web. Hope to meet one day soon, but until then, I look forward to hearing what you have to say online!

Great with a "How I did..." (and succeeded) as opposed to the millions of "How to...." guides where well meaning experts tell more or less the same.

Thanks for sharing!

To sum it up, you have "done it right." Having a jeweler as a client, I can just say that this can be new stuff for some industries, particularly retail-based ones. You started slow, and developed comfort levels, trust and credibility—with your employer, with your customers and with your peers (even your "competitors").

It's a model other retail businesses could learn a lot from. Congrats, @BenBridgeGirl!

So glad you have a post about everything you have done.
You have shown them the door to Social media - you are indeed a Trust Agent.

You should talk more about what you are doing :) so we all can learn some!
